Welcome to First United Methodist Church!
Welcome to First United Methodist Church of Redondo Beach on the Web! We're glad you've come to check out our Internet presence. Check back here often. We're constantly in the process of updating our website. We're a part of The United Methodist Church and our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world! We welcome all people as we seek to grow together in faith and be in ministry to the world God has entrusted to us. Come check us out in person. We'd love to have you join us on our journey of faith!
Lent for me is a precious time when we have the opportunity
to explore once again just what the whole "Christ event" means for us as
individuals and as a community of faith.
It is a time which, when entered into with intent can make the coming
celebration of Easter personally profound in exciting ways!
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and is a season of the 40 days
before Easter, not including Sundays. It
commemorates the 40 days that Jesus spent in the wilderness following his
baptism during which he was tempted by Satan.
It has traditionally been a season of prayer and repentance for
Christians to prepare spiritually for the celebration of Christ's death and
resurrection. Sundays are not included
in Lent because Sundays have always been feast days in the Church when the
resurrection of Jesus is celebrated.
Think of Sundays as being mini Easters.
